The installation of a membrane structure may require additional structural analysis. This will typically ensure that individual components of the structure and its support system are not overstressed. Alternative installation sequences may be studied, with a view to, for example, minimising the craneage necessary.

The installation process is simulated numerically by modelling the reverse, namely the demounting of the installed and fully stressed structure. This is facilitated by the specified displacement and member force constraints available within inTENS.

It may also be necessary to investigate the consequences of wind load on a partially installed structure, or the consequences of a local failure of part of a structure.
